People of the Book - with Zibby Owens
Save the Date - Ask A Jew Hanukkah Party in NYC Dec 12th!
You may know the name Zibby Owens because she’s, well, everywhere!
A bestselling author, CEO, bookstore owner and top “book-fluencer”, Zibby is the host of the widely succesful “Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books” podcast, where she’s interviewed guests like Hillary Clinton and Alicia Keys, whose publicists are totally checking to see if they can come on Ask A Jew and should circle back to us with a date any day now.
But with great power comes great responsibility, and after October 7th Zibby found herself actively fighting antisemitism in the literary world (a huge thing, in case you missed it), and most recently published “On Being Jewish Now”, a heartfelt collection of essays from authors and advocates exploring what it means to be Jewish in the new reality we all live in (Also here on substack)
How excited are you about our Hanukkah Party? We know we are. Hope you can join us Dec 12th In NYC, we’ll be releasing the details next week, but it’s shaping up to be a very special night in a very special venue with very special guests and very special drink specials. Watch our substack for the details and how to sign up!

Here is Zibby on why she pulled out of the National Book Awards, which took place a year ago today:
It was *wonderful* to hear Zibby on this episode, especially since just this week I was able to attend one of the many, many events celebrating this anthology and say hello to her in person! Since there seems to be considerable interest in this whole matter of what's been going on in the literary world, I'll point everyone to the "Post-October 7" section on my website's Jewish Writing Resources page: https://www.erikadreifus.com/resources/jewish-writing/, which will lead you to a lot more info.
