Hey AAJ friends,
Sorry for the sporadic posts and pods, school is out and Yael is traveling, so things have been slow. It’s so nice to have a partner that I can blame for everything!
Next week we are bringing back a fan favorite guest of the pod:
Yes, it’s my father. Hey, booking talent in June is tough!
Seriously, many of you enjoyed the conversation we had with my Dad so we are bringing him back. He’s a wise soul and has lots of experience dealing with all kinds of issues. I plan on asking about pain and suffering in the world and his recipe for a good life.
Please send in your questions! We can ask him anything! Do you have questions about life, relationships, G-d, Judaism, history, philosophy, Guns n Roses? These are his areas of expertise so get your queries in before we record.
Also, I’ve been getting some questions about TV show recommendations so here is my shortlist for right now:
Shtisel on Netflix- a wonderful look at a Chareidi family in Israel dealing with real-life struggles. This is my favorite show depicting Orthodox Jews. It’s not perfect but it’s close. These characters are relatable and you will learn so much about the ultra-Orthodox community.
For all Mankind on Apple TV- I love shows and movies about space. This is a retelling of the space race as if the Soviets had won. I’m really enjoying it.
Secrets of the Whales on Disney + O.M.G. This is just truly amazing. The footage is crystal clear as if you are swimming with the whales. Whales are so freakin awesome and this show is spectacular.
Enjoy your weekend!!!
P.S.- Here is a picture of me and my Dad talking over each other-the best representation of our relationship that I could find!
Here is a link to a talk that my Dad gave on why laughter is so important:
Can’t wait for Chaya Leah’s dad! This might be basic, feel free to take the spirit of it, but what does your dad wish secular Jews knew about observant Jewish life -- or, what can secular Jews do to bring more Judaism into their lives. Thank you!
Yay!
