Don't see a post for the gelt digger episode, but I wanted to say that there is a kosher benihana style place in Queens. It's been through a few different rebrandings, but it's still there. Class trip next time CL is in.

Jew on Christmas is my favorite holiday! Do not feel bad for those without plans (or maybe not all). No expectations and everything’s closed.

Re: Christmas stuff. My aunt liked to cook and decorate so her house would be decked out for Christmas. It drove my dad crazy. He hated going over there while she had a tree up. He’d grumble in the driveway for a minute or two.

The Hasidic kids and matching clothes! I always thought that was just efficient. I hadn’t realized the moms really love it (I’m assuming Chaya Leah speaks for the orthodox community). That’s cute.

Anyways, day 6 of candle lighting, ladies 🤘🏼 Happy Chanukah! (you win Chaya Leah). Can’t wait to listen to the Xmas song episode.

I’m back! 🥳 Great Christmas music episode! Rabbi Komerofsky was an excellent guest. Shoutout to the Reforms.

Re: going to school on Christmas 😂 if Halloween fell on a Hebrew school night we had to go to Hebrew school because Halloween was a Christian holiday. My dad made a big point of that. What he lacks in practice he makes up for in fear of assimilation.

Last names: I caught that in Dara Horn’s book. I was told we changed our last name ourselves because people didn’t like Russians (my family left out the Jewish part).

Looking forward to the new TTATH segment. Any thoughts on how some on the Right are categorizing Zelensky? Marjorie Taylor Greene called him the “shadow president” and tweeted out a meme of him carrying a stack of cash out of the Capitol. It’s always made me nervous that he’s Jewish so I might be hyper alert.

Thanks you two! You’ve made this year of Judaism a blast.

Interesting point to remember is the difference between 'Christmas songs' and hymns such as Silent Night, Hark the Herald Angels sing and the like. Important distinction.
