Listening now, but I wanted to say in regards to the White House interns and Congressional staffers. It sounds like that was unprecedented. From what I could tell ,it was a tiny minority who are signing these petitions. Which means the vast majority of young people in Democratic politics do not feel this way. But I do wonder why it's THIS conflict at THIS time that this happened.

I wonder if it's TikTok. I saw some youtube video by this yourber who was interviewing this man, who was talking about the scourge of Zionism, and the man was saying how journalists and the mainstream media are held in thrall to Zionism, but tikotkers and youtubers, they can tell the truth of what's going on, and I think that might be the main cause of what's going on.

As for young people, I think what's interesting that I don't think young Republicans think Israel is horrible, but definitely young Democrats are not fans. On the plus side, most of them think Israel and the Palestinians are equally bad.

Also, things change. People get older and their views get nuanced. I don't know that young people in the histroy of the world have ever been known for their nuanced view of things.

What HAS shocked me is how invested in "Palestine must be freed" rhetoric some people are. Like, October 6, you didn't care. Hamas definitely got people paying attention, if nothing else.

Jamie is great. I will be eternally grateful to him for his stance against “queer,” his episode on Uncertain Things is definitely in my top 5 favorite podcast listenings of all time. Just found this podcast and love it! Question: One of you was REALLY down on Kamala Harris. I'm no fan but I've never heard anyone publicly state this. So what's wrong with her? Personally, I feel like she's not doing enough to defend Biden.

You brought up in your discussion the support of Zionism in future generations. I do think young people's attitudes tend to get moderated as they grow and mature. So, some of the zealousness among Gen Z (or is it Gen Y?) will likely become less extremist. As an example, a not insignificant number of Boomers (who are mocked now for their traditional behavior) were extremists as young people. (How can we ever forget the Hippies!?!)

Furthermore, while I have never seen a statistical breakdown, my suspicion is there is a significantly higher birth rate among cultural and religious conservatives in the US versus their progressive/liberal peers. Those on the Left tend to forgo large families -or having children at all - almost entirely. And, as people tend to form their political and cultural opinions frequently from their family members, I think this would favor pro-Israel support (unless of course Bernie Sanders becomes the future head of the Knesset!)

With so few friends out there in the world now, I wonder why you are boycotting TPUSA? Its not like the rest of the university will hate you any less for doing so. And it might be interesting for your students to find out who their allies really are.

Chaya Leah, are you saying that if a Republican had been president, the Democrats would prioritize opposition to him over solidarity with Israel? That’s a very depressing thought.
