Welcome back to your favorite pro-semitic podcast. On this episode, we discuss the latest kerfuffle regarding a Mr. Man cartoon that looks too much like a certain European dictator, despite being green, and, well - a cartoon.
Speaking of dictators, did you know that there is a website dedicated entirely to cats that look like Hitler? If you hate cats, you now have another excuse.
Moving on, how about a palette cleanser? This is Chaya Leah’s favorite Instagram account, which is naturally a family of gorgeous blond Mormon farmers:
Chaya Leah, Boruch, and the kids.
We spend the rest of the episode offending any of our listeners who are podiatrists, dentists, physical therapists, chiropractors or 10k runners.
But suddenly, a question from a listener has us cracking up at first, and then accidentally getting serious. What is the secret to confidence? Well, clearly in our case the secret is overcompensating. And also watching the movie by Troy Mclure, Get Confident, Stupid!
Simpsons jokes aside, the path has been set for an in-depth conversation about our dark, dark souls. Why does everything we see remind us of our deficiencies? Does beating yourself up actually help you move forward in life? Why is Chaya Leah insecure? The answer to the last question is, you guessed it, The Holocaust.
We touch on this part briefly, but here is Margaret Atwood, proclaimed novelist, talking about being a terrible procastinator. It’s refreshing and helpful if you struggle with procrastination.
Chaya Leah also speaks about the book of Tanya, which sounds like a young adult novel but is actually a sacred religious text about an identity crisis. She also offers a story of two pieces of paper we should carry in our pockets to balance humility and pride. It’s in an article about 10 ways to make yourself a better person, but it only works if you’re Jewish, we think.
Speaking of better people, here’s Yael at her recent birthday party, which was a historical pub crawl led by friend of the pod, Bill Schulz.
Bill is an expert on old-timey bars, and we had him on a few months back in the “people we thought were Jewish” segment .
That’s it for this week, but we would love to hear from you! Do you know the secret to being confident? Do you manage to live life without guilt? Is being neurotic a Jewish thing, or a just a first-world problem?
