Totally tangential, but have you seen the clip of Paris Hilton code switching during her congressional hearing? She goes from using her cutesy socialite voice to compliment a House member’s jacket to being totally serious. It’s jarring but gives some insight into the character she’s seemingly been playing for years: https://youtube.com/shorts/0wRjZwcn7M0?si=Z5qRimfUukOAil_I
I love the perspectives here! I do consider myself to be in a very happy marriage after 12 years, but my husband and I both had clear expectations when we were looking for a spouse. We’re in a relatively religious community, not Jewish, but even so many people thought we were too unromantic when we were courting. On the other hand, when young women ask me for advice my go to response is a husband isn’t just someone you go on dates with. Would you feel comfortable signing a lease with this person? Can you share a checking account with them?
A friend of ours once wished a newly married couple to always love each other as much as they did then. My husband’s response was that it’s obvious she isn’t married because how are you feel about each other when you get married is just the beginning. In retrospect I feel like when we got married we barely knew each other (we’d known each other four years two of which we were either dating or engaged), but now that we’ve been through so many stages in our careers and children. I love him so much more than I could’ve imagined at our wedding.
OMG. One, I was at Starbucks like last week maybe, probably more like 2 weeks ago - first day they started offering actual glasses and mugs for coffee. Anyway, this homeless woman came in, asking for money for a sandwhich, I was truthful in saying I didn't have any money, primarily because i have barely used cash since the pandemic. Though I do buy lunch for two homeless men a few times a week. Anyway, she then turned to the woman next to me, and she got up and said "I'll buy you lunch." And the woman just turned around and walked away.
As for Ian Somerholder, I remember actuallly gasping when I watched the Vampire Diaries. He is so pretty.
ETA: Because I'm a Wiki WHORE, I looked up Ian's wife, as i'd been sure it was her dad who was Jewish. Which is true. Considers herself Jewish but grew up with her non-Jewish mom from the age of 2. So I guess Jew-ish.
Also, while I liked on Jewish Matchmaking there was a black Jewish woman, among all the non-jews I know, they think Jews of color are people who were adopted or the child of an Eastern European Jew and a non-Jewish person of color or a person of color who converted to Judaism. I really wish non-Jews, really non Israelis I suppose. could know about Ethiopian Jews, Yemeni Jews, Indian Jews; That Jews dispersed.all over the world

woah!! I've never seen this
It’s so weird. I never really got her appeal.
I never did either. But her stories about being put in a boarding school make me want to read her memoir…

So true! I love those questions… it’s hard to agree to marry someone who you wouldn’t sign a lease with!
You may trust them with your heart, but do you trust them with your credit score?
What a great episode, Ladies! I loved both segments. 💕
