This week on Ask A Jew, the girls sit down with their colleague at the top of the podcasting charts Mike Pesca, who just returned from his first ever reporting trip to Israel.
I’m saddened to learn that Pesca has lost a major share of his listeners due to his (extremely reasonable) Israel stance. It’s sad because he’s so brilliant, has such mastery of language, and is always a disciplined, curious thinker. It’s enraging because the broad strokes of the Israel issue aren’t hard and so many people who have admired Pesca on other issues are completely flubbing this one.
Guess I have to become a Pesca Plus subscriber. There are worse things in the world.
I get Mike Pesca’s dad😂. My impression is that those of us who appreciate and love religion recognize that Judaism is the best in class.
That being said, I’m not one for converting because if the religion one is born into is good enough I think one can get the most out of practicing the religion of their family and culture (again, given that your religion is good enough and not in death/sex cult mode.) If I had married a Jewish man then I would have happily gone all in. Alas, an upstanding Catholic man pursued me and I was raised Episcopalian so now I happily grow where I was planted in Anglo-Catholicism. Still, I stand in awe of Judaism and thank God for its many lessons and teachers.
Thank you both for sharing and continuing to share with all of us amid so much hatred. Your generosity of spirit is not lost on me.
