Thank you Chaya Leah and Yael for convincing me to watch Love On The Spectrum. It’s so fun, and I want Abbey and David to get married. Please do an episode that’s just talking about Love On The Spectrum.

I’m a relatively new listener, and I love the solo episodes! You two have really good chemistry and tell interesting stories.

I'm just back from the ADL conference here in NYC - I kind of thought that I might see you there. I thought it was excellent and a great use of my time which I have never said about a conference before. There were comedians, on stage - it was pretty special.

Thanks so much for letting us know where to email you! This whole time, I'd been emailing AskAJewPawg@substack.com instead! Though, upon reflection, it's probably best you didn't read those. 😳

With respect to campus nutjobs, it's not just (or even primarily) the faculty: it's the ever-growing cadre of administrators. They almost uniformly have master's degrees from schools of education that have been ideologically captured by the most extreme progressives you've ever met. On top of that, they--unlike professors--have absolutely no professional obligation to "the truth" and therefore no brake at all on their behavior. These people control every co-curricular aspect of students' lives: they're the ones who run the "norm-setting" presentations at orientation; the ones who make requirements for student groups to have DEI directors; the ones who run the Multicultural Centers who hold "Middle East History Months" that conveniently don't mention Israel as part of the Middle East.

Yes, the nutty leftist professors are bad, but I would be more worried about the fact that virtually every one of the administrators who control students' lives out of the classroom have a worldview in which Jews are essentially an "oppressor" people.

I saw the NY Times article, with pictures of people, in fucking New York City, placing flowers in front of a vigil for Bushnell. How is he being lauded?

Also, Sex and the City - the amazing books - is kind of ruined now for me.

Will no one cry out to defend poor Vashti? OK, I will then. All the book of Esther says about her is that she was the wife of Achesverosh and, when asked to parade herself (likely naked or barely clothed) to all of her husband’s guests, she refused and died for it. No more is said about her after that initial chapter. You’d think the Rabbis would praise her determination to remain “modest,” a trait they insist upon for all god-fearing Jewish women. Instead, the fan-fiction commentators insist she was ugly and covered in warts! I highly doubt the king would have wanted to parade her and embarrass himself if she were truly such a troll. Chaya-Leah praised Esther just a few podcasts back for risking her life and confronting the king. Can Vashti not get equal praise for actually losing her life for her convictions? Maybe Vashti was a bad person, but nothing in the original texts gives evidence to this (only the commentaries written much much later). Innocent until proven guilty say I.

Chag sameach everyone and thanks to Chaya-Leah and Yael for these super-enjoyable podcasts.

I am SPAMMING you so hard. I had grown up thinking Mordecai was Esther's uncle, but I am pretty sure they're cousins - Mordecai ben dod.

Also, I thought purim meant lots in Persian - and Mordecai and Esther were Persian names, hence why she was called Hadassah.

In regards to the first grade teacher at that school, you missed the best part, which is that the teacher posted on instagram how proud she was that one of the students wrote that the solution to the war was for the Jews to go back home. Also, apparently there had been a Jewish day school at the Reform synagogue, but I guess they closed it, though I might be misremembering that part. Or maybe it was a daycare center

in regards to the assignment from the Asian Studies Department, there is SOMETHING going on at the UC Asian Studies Departments, as there was that extra credit assignment at UC Davis or Berkeley if students would attend a pro-Palestine rally. Also, the wat in Vietnam is a genocide now? And while what's happening in Gaza is horrible for all the innocent civilians, I fail to see how that's a genocide too.

On October 7, the Hamas terrorists were armed, the Israelis massacred were defenseless. The unanswered question is why did Israel disarm its citizens most of whom are IDF veterans and leave them vulnerable to mass rape and murder by Hamas? An incredibly stupid decision and the Israeli government is clearly culpable. Every Jewish family in Israel (and the US) should have a 9 mm handgun, an AR15 rifle and plenty of ammunition for both. Every adult and teenage member of the family should be proficient in their use. Have anti-gun Jewish politicians in both countries learned nothing from the Holocaust and the latest slaughter? Isn't it time for the Jewish people to tell them to go fuck themselves?
