Fun fact!! The upstate New York potential Jewish state Chaya Leah mentioned was the hypothetical city of Ararat, in the far northwestern corner of the state. Purchased over 120 years before independence of the modern state of Israel, it established a Jewish refuge city in (most of) Grand Island, which splits the Niagara River just south of the Canadian border. Perhaps it was an idea ahead of its time, but, it could have been fun...
